I have always struggled with meditation. Yes, even as a yoga teacher. I’ve burned all the incense, rubbed all the crystals, tried all the apps. Nothing could silence the chatter of my overactive mind until I discovered sound healing.
There was a golden Tibetan singing bowl sat amongst the hundreds of gleaming instruments in a tiny shop in Shepherd’s Bush that made its way into my practice. When struck, it rang with the music of ten bells. It demanded stillness from everyone in the room and provided the gift of serenity for those who would accept it.
I now offer sound journeys or sound baths for individuals and groups using special instruments like crystal singing bowls, tuning forks, and crystal pyramids. The therapeutic benefits of the sound bath are so profound, they’ve been described by participants as a sonic massage for the cells and the soul.
Sound baths are so-called because you are deeply immersed in the waves of frequencies. They shift our minds from anxious or passive to calm, tranquil and even productive states. You are not merely hearing the sound through your ears, but experiencing the vibrations wash over your entire being.
